Missed Garbage Day

Written by Jamie cole
It all started with missing my garbage pickup for the week.  Yes, it had been assigned, and yes, it had been forgotten.  I, the mother, am truly the last line of defense! I was turning into our driveway from taking a couple of my children to school Wednesday morning when I realized it was garbage day, it was 7:35 a.m.  I flew up the drive and took a quick overview of my options.  Either I pile my garbage in the back of the Suburban, not a good choice considering I had walked by the day before and realized it was in need of a bath, or I jump on the lawn mower and muscle the container along the driveway and up to the road. Not having much time to think, by now it was 7:38 and the garbage deadline was 7:30, I chose the lawnmower. I was feeling uneasy knowing I had colossal potholes to navigate around along our long lane, but knew I had little time to waste. With a death grip on the garbage handle trying to keep the can tipped just right behind my seat, I flew down the driveway as I decided which path through the…

Renew and Refresh

Written by Jamie cole
Spring Break!!! It's second in favorite's only to summer break in the mind of every school aged child, and teacher! The mark that winter is finally over and warm weather will soon be an everyday occurrence. A chance to renew your soul, or refresh a few things around the house. Whatever your plans, spring break is a welcomed week. My plans include spending time with all four kids and my husband. Our opportunities to spend time altogether are becoming fewer now that they are getting older, so I am excited for the chance to hang out with them! I'm also excited to spend some time catching up on my Bible reading. I may be on the 2 year plan, but I'm forging ahead and may make it through the book of Leviticus this week! The verse that hit me this morning is Romans 12:1-3 . "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and…

Heart Cleaning

Written by Jamie cole
Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him.   I struggle with keeping my whole house clean.  I'm sure some of you can relate!!  I can do a great job of keeping a lot of it "company ready", but there is always that door that needs to stay shut!  That's where I've hidden all the things I don't want others to see..my "mess"!!  At our house we have this saying "showroom quality", meaning it could be in a showroom!  I've never had a "showroom quality house"!!  :)   Recently, God showed me that my heart is like my house, I can keep a lot of it really clean, but I had "rooms" in my heart that I didn't want anyone or God to see.  I'd have to admit, I liked the stuff I had in those rooms of my heart!  Even though I knew God didn't and it wasn't good for me anyway, I didn't want to let go of it!!   God really worked on me and showed me that I needed to trust Him and I would be thrilled with the results!  It's been a battle, but I've let God…

  • Is Santorum Falling Into a Theology Trap?
Rick Santorum knows that jobs and the economy are foremost on the minds of voters. And like former President Ronald Reagan, he is comfortable speaking on social issues such as abortion and traditional marriage. Yet with his political stock on the rise, his number one priority may be to not fall for a theology trap being set by his opponents.
